Mooresville, NC (June 25, 2013) - Often times in our lives we find there is an opportunity that presents itself, one that creates so much excitement words can’t describe the exact feeling. As for 16-year-old Joey “Mooch” Mucciacciaro, an undeniable proposition has been offered to him.
“Mooch” will get behind the wheel of Bertrand Motorsports number 74 NEMA Midget on June 29th for Stafford Motor Speedway’s 10th Annual Carquest Super Saturday event. Tim Bertrand has a history of success and looks forward to putting this talented young driver in the race. Joey has ran a few races in NEMA lights ranging from 2009 to 2011, but this will be his first shot in a full blown NEMA midget, and he couldn’t be more excited.
“Bertrand Motorsports is a great group of guys, I’m really looking forward to working with them as well as getting back to some short track racing in Connecticut,” Mucciacciaro stated. “I can’t thank Tim enough for the opportunity, it’s truly an honor to be able to work with such a great team, I’d always been willing to jump in a car for them and I’m eager to gain some experience.”
Joey heads into the weekend with a focused mindset and determined attitude. Bertrand Motorsports has had legendary drivers in the past including Ryan Newman, Teddy Christopher, Cole Carter and Jeff Horn. Currently Randy Cabral, Chris DeRitis and Todd Bertrand dedicate themselves to racing for the team. They help bring awareness to midget racing in the Northeast and this coming Saturday is going to be a night you don’t want to miss.
“I’ve known Joey for about five years now and watched him race in NEMA lights years ago,” Bertrand said. “He’s a clean driver yet aggressive when he needs to be and has had a lot of success at his young age. We like to work with great people at Bertrand Motorsports; we’re really excited to be working with both Joey and his family.”
The grandstands at Stafford Speedway will open at 3:15PM on Saturday and opening ceremonies will begin around 7pm. The NEMA midget feature will be 30 laps of exhilaration, make sure to tune in.
